MASJID COUNCIL is a faith based development, humanitarian and campaigning organization working for human security, sustainable and integrated development, peace and communal harmony. It is dedicated to working with individuals, challenged communities and other development and humanitarian partners to overcome people’s vulnerability and sufferings irrespective of their religion, race, ethnicity or gender. Inspired by the core values of Islam, it strives for creating an egalitarian society free from poverty and injustice.
Registered with the Registrar of the Joint Stock Companies and Firms of the Government of the
People’s Republic of Bangladesh under Societies Act, Masjid Council started its interventions in
1999. It also obtained registration from the Directorate of Social Services and NGO Affairs Bureau of the Government. It has a countrywide interfaith linkage with trained Imamsand leaders and followers of different religions. Its organizational capacity and strong linkages around the country has placed it in an ideal position to facilitate faith based partnerships in development and humanitarian work and to initiate culturally appropriate and effective interfaith campaigns to address people’s values, misconceptions and behavioral issues deep rooted in the culture and traditional practices of the society.

Diganta News admires HASANA
Diganta TV, one of the most popular satellite TV channels in Bangladesh, recently televised a news-documentary featuring Hasana -the zakat based poverty alleviation program of Masjid Council and marked its success as ‘enviable'. The documentary highlighted the background, approaches and successes of Hasana program and invited the well-off segment of the society to contribute to the program. Masjid Council Publishes"Aapnar Jiggasha"
Noted Islamic scholar and media personality Moulana Abul Kalam Azad replied to countless questions posed by the n tv audience from home and abroad. The program gained immense popularity and a sizeable segment of the audience requested him repeatedly to compile the questions and answers in a book. In order to comply with their requests Masjid Council has published a book titled, ‘Aapnar Jiggasha' compiling and editing the selected questions and answers in Bengali.
Masjid Council Publishes "‘Ramadaner Aamol"
Masjid Council has published a book on ‘Ramadaner Aamol' – focusing primarily on various aspects of ‘saum' (fasting). Noted Islamic scholar, Madina-University graduate Moulana Tazul Islam has authored and eminent Islamic scholar and media personality Moulana Abul Kalam Azad has edited the book. The book will quench the thirst for saum-related Islamic knowledge of the general mass and at the same time eliminate their misconceptions about saum.
Masjid Council holds live TV discussion in Ramadan
Masjid Council is going to organize a series of live discussion sessions on Diganto Television . Eminent Islamic scholars of the country will take part in the discussion sessions. Importance and significance of the month of Ramadan, Ramadan and Al-Quran, Zakat, Sadaqah, Poverty alleviation in Islam, Ramadan and charity, right of the orphans and many other life-oriented issues will be discussed at length in the programs. The programs will also feature Masjid Council's key projects undertaken in relation to those topics.
Masjid Council Works as Election Observer
Masjid Council, partnering with Democracywatch, monitored the on-going Union Parishad Election 2011. Four teams, each consisting of five members, monitored the UP election on 12 June 2011 in four unions of Laksam upazilla under Comilla district.The unions are: Bakai, Gobindopur, Purbo Laksam and Mudaffarganj. Prior to that all twenty election- observers received necessary training and briefing from Democracywatch. The Election Commission issued ID card against each individual observer.
